Hierarchy does not apply for folder access.

Love this site, it's really helpful for my Certified Admin' preparation.

To complement this section, there's a nice blog post on security here: http://www.shellblack.com/SFDC/implementing/security/

Does access to folders roll-up through role hierarchy ?

If a person in the lower role has created a folder. Does the person in the higher role have access to it?

Keerthana,

(From the SFDC Help page)

When transferring accounts and their related data in Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions, all previous access granted by manual sharing, Apex managed sharing, or sharing rules is removed. New sharing rules are then applied to the data based on the new owner. The new owner may need to manually share the transferred accounts and opportunities as necessary to grant access to certain users.

Hi Keerthana,

"No Access" can be read more specifically as "No Access to other users' records". They would have access to records they own (the only permission that would prevent this is object-level permissions).

From my understanding when you mass transfer records, sharing rules will be reevaluated based upon the new record owner. I can't say with 100% certainty as I haven't specifically tested it.

Hope that helps! Cheers,
John

Hi,
Regarding the mass transfer of records which one is correct?

When you transfer records from one user to another, the sharing rules are reevaluated to add or remove access to the transferred records as necessary.

(or)

When you transfer records from user to another, the sharing rules are removed during the transfer.

I saw both these statements while going through the "help and Training" ins alesforce.

Hi,,

I have a doubt in the Describe the scope and capabilities of Organization-Wide Defaults.

In the table that is given the salesrep should have access to his own opportunities.

But it is given as "No access".

Could you please explain that?

Thanks,
Keerthana

I am taking my test tomorrow and I really appreciate the content you have put together for exam preparation.

One important thing to mention about Mass transfer of record is that they DO NOT trigger workflow rules.
