This information is pretty much useful.
Can you let me know about other certification exams like:
Consulting Authorization Exam
Level I
Level II
Level III
How these are different from the above admin, developer and consultant exams?
Any focus on this is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Venkat

According to the study guide for the certified consultant exam the passing requirement is 73%.

@Robert: Thanks, updated.
@Venkat: To my knowledge the different tiers of consulting exams are designed for consulting partners of salesforce. The Certified Consultant exam is completely separate. These Consulting Authorization Exams predate the all of the exams listed in the matrix above. I’m not positive on this however.

That is useful.
However, I want to know the topics tested in consultant, Level I, II, III exams.
Thanks

As you know, Summer 09 has been released, so just have quick question that Questions can come from Summer 09 also?

I was preparing for the exam using this website as well as the online help in my SFDC developer edition account (Spring 09). In my opinion, exam questions are based on the previous version of SFDC. If you login to webassessor, you will see the option to register for a free Salesforce.com Certified Administrator – Spring ‘09 Release Exam, which could not be possible if this info was included in the standard Salesforce.com Certified Administrator exam. Moreover, I believe you do not need to worry about summer release for now.
My two crucial tips are: 1) use information provided by ForceCertified.com for your exam preparation, try to remember all details and practice building and configuring SFDC; 2) pass this exam ASAP while Salesforce hasn’t released its updated version!
Good luck to everyone!

Awesome glad to hear it! I am definitely planning to pursue additional certifications, although I’m not sure when exactly. I may do something similar or more abbreviated (key notes instead of a whole guide), and the advanced admin is likely next on the list.
Cheers & congrats,
John

Thanks for the prompt reply. Just wanted to make sure that I could get certification without undergoing the formal training. I have extensive hands-on experience and do not want to waste money on these classes. A lot of customers these days look for certification before giving a contract assignment.

@Kelly: I am not close to publishing consulting materials, but sent you a copy of my draft materials via email.
@R R: Yes you can pass the admin class without formal training. I have none and personally did not find the exam overly challenging. Best of luck!
Cheers,
John

Hi
I just started to prepare for the admin certification. I am going through the Study guide. recently I can new release of Spring10 in salesforce website. Can you confirm whether the study guide is sufficient to take the admin certification or need to cover the new releases in Spring10 ?
Thanks
Vijay
John Coppedge
// Feb 10, 2010 at 6:11 am
Hey Vijay,
I wrote the admin guides in Winter 08 which means after reading the guides you’ll need to learn the changes in each subsequent release:
Spring 09
Winter 10
Spring 10
Hope that clarifies. Most of the content should hold for future versions, but it is very important to understand what has changed on the platform since it was written. Cheers,
John

Hi John,
So Its like I need to cover the study guide and all changes till spring’10 before taking the exam. I also found this URL http://www.salesforce.com/assets/pdf/misc/SG_CertifiedAdmin.pdf
and not sure this PDF covers the changes till the new release.
can anybody confirm which will really help in moving forward in my certification preparation.
Thanks
